Dr. Sachs is fulfilling his lifelong dream of developing a major research and charitable foundation which bears his name. The Sachs Foundation for Advanced Research in Plastic Surgery has several important ongoing projects. One of the main functions of the foundation is to make available to persons all over the country, the latest, most sophisticated plastic surgery, hospitalization, post-operative care and instruction. All eligible cases are reviewed by the foundation and chosen simply on a basis of need.

The foundation is also actively involved in basic scientific research as it relates to reconstructive surgery. Presently investigations are underway using sophisticated cell culture techniques to help unlock the control mechanisms of the body. This will enable patients to grow new bone cartilage for use in reconstructive operations. In the future, a combined hospital and research center devoted entirely to plastic surgery is planned.
