Some
patients possess anatomical details that are out of proportion
with the rest of their facial features or are smaller
or larger than they desire. A perfect example of this
is a chin that is too small or recessed. The solution
to this problem is a simple chin implant.
Many times however the patient's features are too big
and disproportionate giving the face a harsh unattractive
look.
Facial sculpting uses very delicate diamond burrs to sculpt
down the offending anatomy that is too large.

The
best candidates are patients who have excessive bone in
the chin area or above the eyes in the eyebrow region.
Extra bony tissue in these areas can throw the face out
of proportion and make a female patient appear masculine
and harsh. It can also make a male patient appear equally
hard and mean.

For
sculpting of the brow region small incisions are made
either within the hairline or in the eyebrow itself.
The extra bone is smoothed and sculpted away until
the desired
shape is achieved. The same technique is utilized for
sculpting the chin area except the incision is placed
directly in the mouth. A liquid diet is maintained for
3 days. Incisions are sutured, closed, and removed
in 1 week.
Normal activity can be resumed at this time.
